An Afternoon on the Practice Tee at the Accenture Match Play

I had the opportunity to attend the Monday practice round at the Accenture Match Play Championship in Marana, Arizona (just outside Tucson).   Always a great learning experience to not only watch the best in the world honing their craft, but also to watch their interaction with their support staff of coaches, trainers, caddies, and equipment reps.  Here are a few videos from Monday afternoon on the practice tee.  Good to see lots of TPI representation both among players and support staff.

Robert Karlsson spent a few hours with his instructor, Mark Blackburn (a TPI Level 3 Golf Instructor and one of the rising stars in the teaching business).

Later they were flanked by fellow TPI players Zach Johnson and Padraig Harrington.

Ben Crane visited the launch monitor with four Titleist reps. Perhaps wanting to balance out all the right hand swings that he takes, Crane also decided to hit some lefty with a lefty club.

Not to be outdone, Steve Stricker had FIVE Titleist reps plus his caddie helping him with equipment. I guess fourteen eyes are better than two!

Jonathan Byrd was practicing under the eye of TPI Advisory Board Member Randy Myers.  Note the alignment sticks downrange that Byrd was using as a "gate" to start the ball on line.
